ASTOYRIA
This building is designed as a mixed-use building to inhabit residential units and light industrial space for a toy factory. The ground floor’s architecture contrasts with the above residential unit’s form and functionality. Astoria is a gentrified area of New York City, and various other residential projects are being proposed, which would cause many families to move out of their neighborhoods and different light industries and business to close. Through this project, I would like to overlap green spaces, residential units, and businesses potentially.
L-Shaped double height units interlock, while this extends the units' square footage and gives residents flexibility. The four meters dept space is also used for aeration and bringing defused light to the unit’s center.
